Eric Duffy Captain 2010
The gods smiled on us, despite all the weather forecasts, and gave us near perfect golfing conditions today (02/05/10) for the Boxmoor Masters. Congratulations to Martyn Brooke on his fine perfomance in the Boxmoor Masters. A fantastic round of golf to come in with a net 62 (1 under par). It was good to see so many past members taking part. My many thanks for their continued suport of the club.
The Club Match against Ivanhoe away on Saturday 21/8/10 was a great sucsess. Boxmoor winning the match 5-1. I would like to thank all the members that took part.
Announcements
You will find that there is quite a lot of damage where the sixth fairway crosses the road by Thatched Cottage. This was caused by a dustcart trying to pass a delivery vehicle. This damage was not too bad, the major damage was caused in the recovery of the duatcart. This area has been marked as Ground Under Repair. A temporary local rule is in place.
New Local Rule.
Grassed Faces of Bunkers on the 1st and 2nd holes.
To protect the work being done on these grassed faces, any ball being plugged in the grassed face of the bunker will take relief, (a) Without penalty, the nearest point of relief must be in the bunker and the
ball must be dropped in the bunker or, if complete relief is
impossible, as near as possible to the spot where the ball lay,
but not nearer the hole, on a part of the course in the bunker
that affords maximum available relief from the condition; or
(b) Under penalty of one stroke, outside the bunker keeping the
point where the ball lay directly between the hole and the
spot on which the ball is dropped, with no limit to how far
behind the bunker the ball may be dropped.
Penalty for Breach of Local Rule. Match play - Loss of Hole; Stroke play - Two strokes.
